Just When Spring Has Sprung

Apr 12th, 2008 | By Justin Kaiser | Category: @ Latest News from Justin Kaiser

Happy Spring!

Well, at least for a couple of days last week we had sunshine and 60 degrees. Now, we’re in the 30’s with a cold rain. I can’t wait until it warms up next week with flowers, garage sale signs, and the overall signs that winter is over.

~ ~ ~

We’ve been busy at Creative Identity Group trying to get cleaned up after the winter floods in Illinois.  As a matter of fact, FEMA visited our offices last week.

As you can see from our website we are working with a diverse group of clients and are always looking to work with more to come up with compelling and appropriate marketing programs across mediums. I’m just an e-mail or phone call away if you’d like to talk about an opportunity. We’ve got a couple other things brewing right now, but I can’t chat about those quite yet.

~ ~ ~

Life outside of the office is going great.  We’ve been trying to eliminate the excess e-mail and I’m planning on spring yard cleanup.  Oh, and we’re in the process of filling out the mounds of paperwork to start the adoption process…

Be well and keep in touch…

A Message From The Desk of Justin Kaiser

Apr 3rd, 2008 | By Justin Kaiser | Category: @ Latest News from Justin Kaiser

Dear Clients and Partners,

I first want to thank you for your business and your loyalty over the years. If you’ve been with us for a while you know that we have experienced some recent growing pains. As we embark on the next growth stage of our company, I want you to know that the same commitment to service and creative offerings that our business was founded on will stay at the core of who we are and what we do.

Please let me take a moment to let you know about the changes that will be happening in our company in the very near future. We are experiencing tremendous growth… We appreciate your patience in working through some of these growing pains as we implement new features including…

  1. A New Name – We have become a global provider of creative web design, audio, and video production for radio, television, on-hold and corporate pod-casting. In order to provide this level of talent, we have partnered with some of the very best talent in our core industry. Justin Kaiser and Associates is now able to harness the synergetic energy of these associates as the Creative Identity Group.
  2. A New Service – Creative Identity Group had a vision. We’ve teamed up with a programming genius to create our Virtual Creative Services program. If you are a broadcast or similar outlet looking to streamline your operation, YOU WILL want to demo Creative Identity Group’s Virtual Creative Services.
  3. A New Website – In order to provide our customers with the latest news and featured audio and video we are updating our corporate blog regularly at www.CreativeIdentityGroup.com. This will allow us to not only keep you up to date, but it also allows us to really keep in touch with our customers.
  4. A New Web Server – We are transitioning away from the current Data Center in Miami and implementing a new web server for our customers at the FastServers Data Center in Chicago. If you host a web-site with Justin Kaiser and Associates you will eventually be moved to a new top of the line server featuring better load times for websites, more storage space and a happier experience :-)
  5. A New Studio – Pictures are worth a thousand words. We’ve made a significant investment into our future productivity.

Over the past 60 days and over the course of the next 90 days we will be bringing online more ways to obtain support as well as an easier way to track support for your Creative requests. We intend to become more aggressive in our maintenance schedule as new creative platforms launch, bringing you more services that you can use without a large up-front commitment or long contracts.

What really is changing, at the core, is that until now we have been an infrastructure building company. The work that has gone into Creative Identity Group since Jan of 2007 has been to transform it into a solution delivery organization. In plain terms that mean: we will no longer only build the web-sites and create the audio and video… we will focus on helping you take advantage of them.

Literally everything at Creative Identity Group is changing; expect more communication from me over the next few months detailing all that we’ve been working on. You’ll love what we have built, and we look forward to continuing down the path of offering solutions that make sense.

Again, thank you for your business as without your partnership in this organization we wouldn’t be able to say…

Our Business Philosophy

Apr 3rd, 2008 | By Justin Kaiser | Category: @ Latest News from Justin Kaiser, Identity 2.0

As we launch a new redesign and retooling at Creative Identity Group I am reminded of what we do, how we do it, and what makes us successful. Here is our business philosophy…

Vision is Power - The old adage used to be knowledge is power, but that was when information was scarce. Now that information is plentiful and inexpensive, knowledge is pretty easy to come by. The key today is vision. Knowledge is important, but without a vision, you’ll find yourself paralyzed by indecision.

Business is Art - Businessmen stifle creativity by putting on blue suits and joining the corporate autocracy while most artists feel that a concern for money will inhibit their artistic expression. My goal is to show that an artistic business person will earn more money than the conservative businessman and will create more relevant art than the starving artist.

The Pursuit for Profits is Noble - Each business transaction is an agreement that a trade of money for goods is a net gain for all parties. If you want to feed the poor, instead of begging for donations; start a company and work hard earning money for 20 years. Then sellout and use your wealth to build a well funded organization to help the poor.

Build a life, not a company - Building a system that earns money is an important part of life, but for a complete happy life, we also need to focus on being good at building relationships, staying healthy, having fun, etc.

Be creative with work partnerships - The employer/employee relationship is a social contract rather than a business contract. Rather than hire, I prefer partnerships, software, and consultants. We focus on cash for work results, and rely on friends and family (not the corporation) to focus on health and social well being.

Focus - If you pick a focus, you can become the best at it and earn profits by selling to those who can’t possibly compete with you because they aren’t as focused as you. Being the best within a specific focus can earn you money, while trying to do many things will not allow you to become a valuable provider of any one thing. We choose our business niches carefully and seek to dominate the sector we focus on.

In The Middle Of A Devastating Flood in IL and IN

Jan 11th, 2008 | By Justin Kaiser | Category: @ Latest News from Justin Kaiser

Friends and others I haven’t talked to in years…

I’ve been on-air since Weds morning at 5:00. We thought we’d be able to drive in until around 11 that morning. When I got the call they were evacuating I came in immediately. Kristin was staying with Stacey the station Manager… they were here just before 4. We almost didn’t get into the station via truck… and he almost didn’t get out… we’re boating in and out at this point but only 1 trip in and out per day… We boated Kristin out yesterday… she did the updates with me until around 11 then covered the rest of the afternoon while I was on the phone with engineers working out a backup plan…

Thankfully we didn’t have to put the backup plan in place… We do have several backups of all data located off-site, however, the other concern is the radio station being overtaken by water forcing us to shut down before it causes major damage or worse, electrocution. Power, oddly enough, has been solid, even though we’ve got a genset and enough diesel to last 3-4 days. If we need to move. here is a tower farm about 8 miles away with a monster non directional AM tower that is setup for ham radio contesting… and a 500 foot tower used for em-comm… all generator powered. We’ve got a 250 watt FM exciter and a single bay antenna as well as processing lined up and a 60 watt am transmitter on our frequency in case we need to relocate. It wouldn’t be as good as the 50,000 watts we put out, regularly and would cover the county…

My most important concern, besides the employees here are the listeners that are affected by this water… I’ll do whatever it takes to keep us on-air and the engineering team that I have lined up should be able to make this happen quickly if it comes to an evac.

We nearly evacuated the station as water in the crawl space was threatening our power supply… we’ve been able to drop that significantly and are constantly pumping…

She was amazing… She’ll be my relief this morning at 8… I’m going to try to lay down for 2 hours and then prep for the 5a news… WGFA’s News Director was here before I was here Weds… He is also the “part time” County Emergency Services Director. That’s a joke… the job is full time x2 as it is… plus we’re a very large county, and now he’s doing this… IL EMA are in town surveying… Cty has been declared a State Disaster agency…

Details at http://www.wgfaradio.com

Look for aerial footage of the flooding here… http://www.myfoxchicago.com/myfox/

Most recent pics of flooding are at http://www.flickr.com/wgfaradio

Some others at http://www.flickr.com/jrkaiser

My home is fine… Sheldon is 10 miles away and much higher… even though the drainage around that area is very bad, we had 4-6 inches around the area and my entire property was a lake… but the home and garage/studio are dry… a little water in the crawl space. Diana and the dogs are doing well, lonely, but well… and SAFE.

We’ve got water lapping at both doors… never been this high… ever… Rarely comes within a few hundred yards of the station with the regular floods… Yes, I said regular… About once ever couple of years… Jan 2005 was very bad because it froze and there was no where for the water to go… then it got down to 20 below.

This year, we had a lot of snow melt last week, and now the rain.

That’s the update… I need to get some sleep before I do the 5am news… I had 90 minutes yesterday and need to get some beauty sleep.

We’re fine… the community isn’t, but we are…

Justin
