I picked up a new computer from Tiger Direct in Naperville, IL on Thursday. I’d been struggling to get by with a workstation that started suffering from serious issues a few weeks ago. With that in mind I had done enough shopping around to determine that I could get a decent refurbished workstation for less than I could build it for.

I payed under $450 for the machine and added an additional 2 gig of DDR2 RAM to the box for $9.99 a stick. Not a bad price.

With that in mind, this is an Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core and has plenty of power to run the Adobe CS3 suite of products like Audition 3 and Photoshop CS3.

I’m seriously looking into the Mackie Onyx Satellite and an M-Audio Sputnik mic as the next major investment.

Oh, and the money I saved by not getting the Quad Core monster… I bought a 32 in HD LCD… yeah, Diana was NOT pleased.

I’m a BIG fan of B.L.U.E and love my Bluebird. It’s performance is awesome and it is highly versatile. I currently run run it through a Focusrite Voicemaster Platinum Pro. This combination has been able to give me a very clean sound.

I have, however, heard many great things about the M-Audio Sputnik. I thought my next mic purchase was going to be the Sennheiser MKH-416 but now I’m not sure.

Do you have any ideas or suggestions. I really need to test these with an A/B comparison in studio back to back.
